Terms of Service
Last updated October 2, 2026
These terms are the end user license agreement for the Closures app for iPhone and iPad, and the terms for using https://closures.app (together, “Closures”). They are an agreement between you and Dalton Sutton (“we”), and not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the Closures app and its content. Apple is not responsible for the app or for these terms.
By downloading or using Closures, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not download or use it. If you are under 18, you may use Closures only with a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains what information Closures handles.

The license
We grant you a non-transferable license to use the Closures app on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Other accounts associated with the purchaser may access the app through Family Sharing, volume purchasing, or Legacy Contacts, where Apple allows it. These terms do not set usage rules that conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions or the Volume Content Terms.
The license lasts until it ends under these terms. You may not copy, rent, sell, lease, sublicense, or distribute the app, except as those Usage Rules allow. You may not reverse engineer it except where the law forbids that limit. We reserve every right we do not expressly grant. The website is licensed only for your own personal, non-commercial use of Closures.
What Closures is
Closures collects closing, delay, and cancellation announcements published by local news stations and shows them in one place, with weather information from the National Weather Service. Closures is free. There is no account and there are no purchases in the app.
Closures is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the news stations, schools, or other organizations it lists, the National Weather Service, or Apple. Names, logos, and announcements belong to their owners and are shown so you can see who reported a status. That display does not give you, or us, any right in those marks beyond identifying the source. The Closures name, logo, and app belong to us.
We may change, limit, or stop any part of Closures. While a build is distributed through TestFlight, it is beta software: features may change or stop working, and Apple’s TestFlight terms also apply.
Confirm it yourself
A station can publish late, publish something incomplete, or publish something wrong, and an organization can change its plans after a report goes out. Closures does not control those sources and does not promise that a status is complete, current, or correct. For any decision that matters, confirm it with the school, employer, or other organization.
Closures is not an emergency service and not an official alert system. Do not rely on it for safety decisions, emergency alerts, or as a substitute for Wireless Emergency Alerts, National Weather Service warnings, or a notice from the organization itself. Location in the app is used on your device to sort nearby closings. It is not an emergency-location service.
Notifications
Notifications depend on news stations, our servers, your device, and Apple Push Notification service. Any of those can delay or drop a notification. We do not promise that a notification will arrive, or arrive on time.
Notifications are optional. Closures does not require them, or location access, before you can use the app. We do not use push notifications for advertising or marketing. You can turn them off in the app and in iOS Settings.
Acceptable use
- Do not use Closures in a way that breaks the law.
- Do not disrupt the service, probe or overload our servers, or try to get access to anything we have not made public.
- Do not scrape, harvest, or resell Closures or its data, or use it to build a competing dataset or service.
- Do not misrepresent where information from Closures came from, or suggest that a station, school, or Apple endorses Closures.
We may suspend access to the service if you break these terms. You can stop using Closures at any time by deleting the app. The privacy policy explains how to delete a notification registration.
If you believe something displayed in Closures infringes your rights, email [email protected] with the page or organization, a description of the work, and a way to reach you. We will review it.
Apple
The acknowledgements in this section are part of these terms because Closures is distributed through the App Store. They do not make Apple a party to this agreement.
Support
We are solely responsible for maintenance and support of the app, as described in these terms or as required by law. You and we acknowledge that Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support for the app.
Warranty
We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent a warranty is not effectively disclaimed below. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are our sole responsibility. Closures is free, so the purchase price is zero unless Apple actually charged you for it.
Product claims
You and we acknowledge that we, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or to your possession or use of it, including: (i) product-liability claims; (ii) any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation, including in connection with the app’s use of the HealthKit and HomeKit frameworks. Closures does not use HealthKit or HomeKit.
Intellectual property claims
You and we acknowledge that, if any third party claims that the app, or your possession and use of the app, infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that intellectual-property infringement claim.
Other terms you must follow
You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using Closures. Those include the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and your agreement with your wireless-data provider. You are responsible for any carrier charges.
Export
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a region that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” region, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Apple may enforce these terms
You and we acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple’s subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Upon your acceptance of these terms, Apple will have the right, and will be deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Closures is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that a closing, delay, early dismissal, or weather statement is correct or timely.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, or for a decision you make in reliance on Closures, including a missed day of school, work, worship, or travel. Our total liability arising out of Closures will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim. The app is free, so that amount is zero unless you paid something.
These terms do not limit liability beyond what applicable law allows. They do not exclude liability for fraud, or for any duty the law says cannot be excluded. Nothing in the limit above shifts responsibility from us onto Apple. Some regions do not allow certain disclaimers or limits, so some of this section may not apply to you, and you may have rights that cannot be waived.
Ending these terms
You may end this agreement by deleting the app and stopping use of the website. We may stop providing Closures, or end this agreement if you materially break it. Sections that by their nature should continue — including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, Apple’s third-party-beneficiary rights, and this sentence — continue after the agreement ends.
Changes and the rest of the agreement
We may update these terms by posting the new terms on this page and changing the date at the top. If you keep using Closures after the update, you agree to the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using Closures and delete the app.
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Closures. If a court holds part of them unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. You may not assign these terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a transfer of Closures. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where we are located, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Except where the law where you live gives you a non-waivable right to bring a claim in your local courts, and except for a claim that may be brought in small-claims court, the state and federal courts of that state have exclusive jurisdiction. Apple may enforce its third-party-beneficiary rights in any court of competent jurisdiction.
